The world has lost a great man and Google has lost a great promoter. I first met Ted (Tedster) in 2001 during a Pubcon and was instantly drawn to his personality. back then Google was not manipulated and people would actually be able to rank so Tedster shared his knowledge. As we changed, tedster continuously stuck to the script and even banned WebmasterWorld users that suggested that Google Search was manipulated. So R.I.P. my dear friend and honorary Googler, you helped us a lot.

As a member of our spiritual community, Ted always looked out for the people who didn't have it easy. He would phone my sister, who didn't have a car, to make sure she had a ride if she wanted to attend an event. He always asked me how she was doing. He cared. I remember when he was cooking for Adi Da on Cape Cod. He said he had gotten the strong impression that he should be learning about the Internet and make that his life's work. He asked me what I thought. I agreed that he should absolutely do it. I am so glad that he did. He was always available for advice about what he knew best, and he was always humorous, patient, and compassionate with the shortcomings of others. I know he knows how loved he was and is.

Deb & Marilyn, I'm so sorry for your loss. We had a lot of great times when we were kids. Remember when Teddy made us sit in the dark while he played that song, I Want My Baby Back. He scared us everytime. I still smile when I hear that song. He was a good big brother. Peace be with you.

The world has lost a giant, someone who had a tremendous impact on those around him. While his full impact on others may not always have been fully realized or noticed publicly, his legacy will live on forever. I, for one, am glad to have met him, if only a few brief times, and to have known about him and learned from his fountain of knowledge. An example and mentor to us all, his passing comes as a terrible loss.

I worked with Ted for over five years and in that time, he was not only one of the most respected people in the industry, but also the most loved. I don't know anyone who spent more time generously making his time available to others for advice and problem-solving. Ted was so self-effacing that many people in our business have no idea the impact that he has had. I will miss Ted terribly and I can only imagine how hard it is for those even closer to him than me. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

In an era where most self promote, Ted was the essence of humility. He worked with Converseon, my company, over years and he became a great friend, colleague and advisor. But more than that, he was just a great human being who gave of himself freely. I'd see his eyes light up when a new SEO problem emerged and he liked nothing more than teaching others. We will all miss you Ted. And i do hope you were able to know the affection we all had for you before you passed. RIP and condolences to all.

One of the kindest and generous people you could know! I met Ted many, many years ago and we spent a great deal of time together, as would allow. I learnt a great deal from Ted, not just about Internet-related matters, but about people, and life in general. He was a great inspiration to me, and I’m sure he was to many others that he met in person, and online. I know that he enriched my life with his wisdom and insightfulness. I was fortunate enough to know and meet Ted (Tedster) through his work with Webmaster World (a public forum where web masters can get help from other web masters) and PubCon (a live conference for web masters to learn from other experienced web masters). I wish to share the story about our first meeting at PubCon in New Orleans back in 2005. It was during one of the lunch breaks. I was sitting alone going over the schedule to see which sessions I wanted to hit next. Tedster sat down right next to me, “You look like a first-timer.” I nodded. “We love first timers. Tell me about yourself.” We chatted one-on-one for the next 15-20 minutes. I shared my struggles, he shared his that he had in the past and he “showed me the ropes” on how I could get the most from not just PubCon, but from Webmaster World. “You see Jerry, this is not about who can get rich, this is about how you can enrich your life and those around you…and make a little money too.” He said with a big smile at the end and elbowing me. He then got serious and told me that when I made it big (he emphasized “when”), it is important to give back. To help those who are just starting out, or those who just need a little help getting over a hump. My career and my life have both been enriched for knowing Ted. He was selfless and genuine in an industry dominated by sharks. I will never forget that he took time out of his life to help me, who was a stranger to him at the time. In the SEO world, Ted is and always will be a legend to us. My deepest condolences to his family and close friends. Thank you for allowing Ted to impact so many of us in a positive fashion.

I'm deeply saddened to have heard of Ted's passing. He was one of the best people I've ever met - not just for his ceaseless contributions to our professional community, no - it's way beyond that. Ted Ulle was the first person I ever heard speak at a national conference. I remember thinking "Wow! This man is a genius!" When I met him later, I learned that he was even greater than I gave him credit for during that initial impression. Such a good soul who will be long missed and never forgotten.

I met Tedster while working at Pubcon, and no matter how crazy things got at registration, he was always there with a smile and a kind word.
